What is a coalition?

  • Webster's: "an alliance of distinct parties, persons, or states which come together for joint action"
Why form a Coalition?
  • Member companies individually lack time and perhaps expertise to manage health care expenditures.
  • Improve the quality, and availability of services rendered.
  • Negotiate contracts with healthcare providers.
  • Identify and decrease system inefficiencies.
  • Improve the overall perception of healthcare delivered in geographic marketplace.
  • Protect employees from unexpected out-of-pocket costs.
Our Mission Statement
  • "To assure that affordable, high quality health care is available locally for employees and families of the member companies, in addition to keeping our medical dollars local, if possible."
How do we accomplish our Mission?
  • Form partnerships with local medical providers.
  • Help bring additional specialty care to local area.
  • Sharing of information / data.
  • Educating employers and their employees to be better consumers.
  • Streamlining methods of claim payment.
  • Reduce administrative burden(s) by working together cooperatively.
What is a Preferred Provider Network?
  • A health-care arrangement where an employer or insurance company has agreements with doctors, hospitals, and other related medical service facilities to provide services for a discounted fee.
  • Employees are not required to use network providers. Rather a choice can be made each time medical care is needed. However, employees are offered incentives to use network providers. These incentives may include lower or reduced deductibles and co-payments as well as increased benefits such as preventive health care.
What should I do in the event of an emergency?
  • In an emergency, it is important to obtain the necessary medical care as soon as possible. If you have any concerns about how your benefits are paid for emergency treatment, consult your employer benefits department, the insurance company or your Summary of Benefits for more details.
